What You'll Do As a Learning Commons Specialist (Communications) you will be responsible for instructing students, developing resources, mentoring OPS staff, and delivering services at varying levels that serve the needs of our student population in the areas of writing, reading, communications, and English skills. Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for: Instructing/providing learning assistance to individual students and groups. Working with faculty across divisions to develop programs, resources, materials and projects. Conducting class visits, orientations, and tours for classes and other groups. Serving on Learning Commons committees and other campus committees. Mentoring OPS tutors and participating in the tutor training process. Providing academic support services to a specified population of students such as Veterans, STEM, online, dual enrollment, athletes, etc. Who We're Looking For We're seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a discipline related to the assigned area of responsibility (including but not limited to English, Literature, Creative Writing, Editing, Writing, and Media, Journalism, Communications, English Education, Adult Education). Two years of experience in learning assistance and/or teaching. Master's degree may substitute for experience in learning assistance and/or teaching. Bonus points if you have: The ability to work 11:00 A.M.
7:30 P.M., Monday
