This position is responsible for: Drives Salvation Army truck along the scheduled route to pick up donations and deliver merchandise to customers; operates the car in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations; lifts, carries, loads, and unloads a variety of donations, including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations always; assists in performing work in the Family store and warehouse. Key Responsibilities: Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption. Assists in cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and loading dock area. Review scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are planned for the correct day of the week and geographical location. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to arrive on time for all scheduled shifts. Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language. Ability to read and follow a map and handwritten directions. Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck. Work requires the ability to lift, carry, and push/pull (50 lbs + 100 lbs plus) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders, or step bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on a frequent change basis, relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle. Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, and heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
