Consultant- Fish Hatchery Technician

MATSYA is seeking skilled, qualified, and experienced a hands-on Hatchery Technician with practical experience in breeding and managing hatchery operations for multiple fish species, including Rohu (Labeo rohita), Catla (Catla catla), Mrigal (Cirrhinus cirrhosus), Pangas (Pangasius hypophthalmus), Shing (Heteropneustes fossilis), Magur (Clarias batrachus), Silver Barb (Barbonymus gonionotus), Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and Snakehead (Channa striata or Channa marulius) and trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The ideal candidate should be comfortable working at the ground level, handling fish, executing breeding protocols, and maintaining hatchery infrastructure. This role is ideal for a highly skilled and committed hatchery technician who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a field setting, and is dedicated to enhancing fish breeding efficiency through practical expertise and innovative hatchery solutions. The key role and responsibilities must include, but are not limited to: Fish Handling & Breeding:

Work directly in water to handle, inject, and breed fish efficiently. Execute artificial breeding protocols for species such as rohu, catla, mrigal, pangas, shing, magur, silver barb, and snakehead. Oversee broodstock management, egg collection, and larval rearing.

Hatchery Infrastructure Development & Maintenance:

Design and maintain incubator jars, water lines, filtration systems, and O? towers. Troubleshoot water quality issues, aeration, and system malfunctions. Ensure the smooth operation of hatchery equipment and breeding setups.

Facility Operations & On-Site Presence:

Must be willing to stay at the hatchery to monitor fish health, breeding cycles, and system performance. Supervise day-to-day hatchery activities, ensuring best practices in hatchery hygiene, water management, and disease prevention.

Qualifications & Skills: Proven experience in breeding and hatchery operations for carps, catfish (Pangasius, Shing, Magur), silver barb, and snakehead. Technical expertise in setting up and maintaining hatchery infrastructure. Ability to work in physically demanding environments and manage hatchery operations independently. Problem-solving skills in troubleshooting breeding issues, hatchery system failures, and fish health challenges. Preferred but Not Mandatory: Prior experience in commercial hatchery management. Familiarity with different induced breeding techniques and fish hatchery systems.
