Cook Position
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, the Cook is responsible for the preparation and cooking of food. In addition, the Cook assists with inventory and proper storage of all food and supplies and all required paperwork and ordering procedures program, and is responsible for production records which involve entering the information into Edison. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Receive instructions from the Director, Area Food Supervisor, and Assistant/Acting Lunchroom Manager Act in place of the Assistant Lunchroom Manager as needed which includes all paperwork and ordering procedures and ensuring all other areas are adhered to and continuing to function when other kitchen staff members are unavailable Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Outlook Handle all food and supplies in a clean, safe, and economical manner Maintain food serving areas, food storage area (dry and refrigerated), small wares, and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion at all times Assist and maintain the setting up of serving lines and serving Preparation and/or cooking of food items as needed to comply with progressive serving schedules Assist with proper receiving and storing of deliveries Perform tasks in a manner meeting all operational standards of School Nutrition Services which adhere to all federal, state, and city laws and District policies and regulations for health and safety compliance Perform related duties as required, or any other duties which may assist in the overall operation of the cafeteria Qualifications High school diploma or GED Level 1 Food Handler, Person in Charge Certification Understanding of Workday software and Linq programs Experience working in Food Service as a Cook is preferred Experience working with children Strong interpersonal skills Able to work 35 hours a week (7 hours per day) Requires punctuality, good attendance and work record at previous employment Working Conditions/Physical Demands Expected moving, walking, and standing consistent with a school environment and occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms The employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a normal school environment. Local travel may be required for training/meetings.
