Assistant Manager
Location: As Assigned FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary/Hourly Rate: $16.16 Union: Local 1199 Under the general supervision of the Area Food Supervisor, the assistant manager's responsibilities involve the attainment of product quality objectives in the area of ordering procedures, labor needs, sanitation, maintenance, all required paperwork, and recordkeeping as well as being responsible for production records which involve entering the information into the Edison program. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Receive instructions from the Director and Area Food Supervisor Train and coach current and new staff as to the correct policies and procedures related to both operational needs and food safety Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Outlook Fill in and ensure all areas are adhered to and continuing to function when other kitchen staff members are unavailable Provide direction to all cafeteria staff members in order to complete tasks efficiently and on time while complying with operational policies and procedures Responsible for taking and recording inventory monthly in a computer application Responsible for accountability and reporting of all breakfast, lunch and a la carte cash receipts Oversee proper receiving and storing of deliveries Effectively communicate with supervisors, kitchen staff and building administrators and take the initiative to address matters Perform tasks in a manner meeting all operational standards of School Nutrition Services which adheres to all federal, state, city laws and District policies and regulations for health and safety compliance Perform assigned tasks as instructed to meet the required time schedules in a progressive preparation and serving mode Perform related duties as required, or any other duties which may assist in the overall operation of the cafeteria Qualifications
High school diploma or GED Level 2 Food Safety Certification Understanding of Workday software and Newton and Edison programs Experience working in Food Service as a Cook, Cashier, or General Prep, preferred Experience working with children Strong interpersonal skills Able to work 35 hours a week (7 hours per day) Requires punctuality, good attendance and work record at previous employment Working Conditions/Physical Demands
