Safety Officer / Grounds Keeper / Maintenance Technician
The Safety Officer / Grounds Keeper / Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety, appearance, and functionality of the hospital grounds, facility, and equipment. This role supports the mission of Minneola Healthcare by ensuring a safe, clean, and operational environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities
Safety Oversight: Monitor and enforce compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections throughout the hospital and grounds. Coordinate safety drills and emergency preparedness training. Investigate and document incidents or near-misses; recommend corrective actions. Maintain safety-related documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Grounds Maintenance (Appearance): Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the hospital's exterior grounds including lawns, landscaping, sidewalks, parking lots, and entrances. Perform seasonal work such as snow and ice removal, irrigation checks, and leaf cleanup. Operate and maintain lawn and grounds equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, snow blowers). Ensure walkways and public access areas are safe, clean, and clear of hazards. Facility and Equipment Maintenance (Functionality): Perform general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, lighting, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and minor construction. Conduct preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Respond promptly to maintenance service requests and complete work orders in a timely manner. Assist in installing, assembling, or relocating furniture and equipment as needed. Monitor and maintain building systems, reporting any operational concerns to leadership. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required, technical or trade school preferred. 2+ years of experience in general maintenance, safety, or facilities workpreferably in a healthcare, school, or institutional setting. Working knowledge of maintenance procedures, tools, and safety regulations. Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work at heights, and perform physical labor in various weather conditions. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Schedule
Full-time position: typical hours MondayFriday with a shared after-hours or on-call schedule for emergencies or inclement weather.
