Submarine Power Generation Systems Engineer

Serco has an immediate opening for an electrical or mechanical engineer with submarine power generation systems expertise and detailed design experience to support our active contract with the U.S. Navy in the Washington, DC area. General duties and responsibilities include: In this role you will: Support the design and development of the CLB IPS electrical system, including, but not limited to: Design and implementation of electrical power generation and distribution systems Development and integration of control systems for all power generation components Design and development of the Turbine Generator, with an emphasis on the generator end Design and integration of control systems for the Turbine Generator Collaborate closely with Naval Reactors, PMS 397, the shipbuilder, and component vendors to define and meet detailed design requirements Ensure all production units meet established design criteria and maintain the highest quality standards Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will: Have a current or active Secret clearance which is REQUIRED for consideration. Have a bachelor's degree in electrical (preferred), Mechanical, Computer, or other engineering degree or related field (Physics, for example). Extensive NAVSEA or submarine experience may replace the degree requirements. Have a minimum of three years' experience in the design of military or commercial power generation systems Have 5 years' experience in the maintenance, operation and issue resolution of power generation systems. Have Naval Nuclear Propulsion experience on VIRGINIA class submarines, at a Prototype or Nuclear shipyard. Have 3 years' experience with magnetic bearings as applied to power generation systems Be articulate in both oral and written formats. Have the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Provide rigorous, responsive, technical acumen while retaining a collaborative and amiable approach. 10% travel may be required. In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $97,787.27 to $162,978.79; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
