About This Job

This position serves as an Engineer Supervisor in the Operations Division of the Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority (CPRA). CPRA is seeking a qualified professional to supervise staff and provide technical oversight for flood control and hurricane protection projects, including levees, floodwalls, pump stations, and floodgates. The incumbent will coordinate with contractors, consultants, and agencies, attend design meetings, construction site visits, and inspections, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Responsibilities also include engineering review of construction documents including plans, specifications, Design Documentation Reports, geotechnical engineering reports, structural design reports, hydraulics modeling reports, documentation management, construction inspection/management and participates in both levee inspections and emergency response support for CPRA's Operations Division. Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus one of the following: Two years of licensed engineering experience; or Six years of professional engineering experience. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience. A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience. Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience. There is no substitution for licensed engineering experience. NOTES: Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience. Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineer's license (e.g., as an engineer intern applicant, engineer intern, or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience. Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana. If one of those applicants is selected for the position, he/she will be required to obtain a Louisiana license prior to appointment. Job Duties: Responsible for providing detailed design and constructability review of the plans and specifications of large, high profile or politically sensitive coastal restoration and hurricane flood risk reduction projects. Utilizes specialized technical engineering functions (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Hydrology/Hydraulics, Construction, etc.) Manages budgets and provides budget projections, schedules, and reviews/approves invoicing Provides regular updates to the Operations Chief, Assistant Administrator, and Operations Manager Supervises and coordinates assignments of subordinate staff Attends design, construction, project completion, and inspection meetings Inspects levees, floodwalls, pump stations, and flood gates Provides technical oversight to flood control entities to ensure goals are achieved Preferred Skills: Extensive engineering experience, specializing in geotechnical, hydrology/hydraulics, structural, or construction engineering and management Ability to anticipate technical issues for which there may be very little precedent Ability to balance economic, environmental and social considerations of topics which may be very controversial Position-Specific Details: Division:

The bi-weekly minimum hire rate established for this position in accordance with CPRA's Special Entrance Rate Policy is $3,316. The maximum salary for the Engineer 6 is $144,560 annually.
