Research Assistant

Typically supports specific research efforts by carrying out defined technical tasks by utilizing standard science related equipment. Follow specific protocols to achieve research goals and objectives to acquire, collect, input and report research data. Essential Functions: Research and collect data through scientific techniques and procedures, or other means for designated research assignments. Record and compile information related to research data. Code data according to research specifications. Process and summarize data using scientific or statistical techniques. Assist in data interpretation and analysis. Report on status of research activities. Performs additional functions as needed. Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Undergraduate degree in science related field. Willingness and ability to take initiative. Excellent organizational skills. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Previous research experience preferred, but not essential. Experience in higher education. Accountabilities: Responsible for own work. Physical Requirements: Sedentary work primarily involves sitting/standing; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
