With minimal direct oversight, this position is responsible for overseeing and supporting the development of individual and/or complex funding proposals. This includes effective interaction with all involved parties and providing proposal management, editing and writing support, integration services, and program and budget development assistance. This position reports directly to the Director of Research Strategy. Experience and Education
Required: Education:
Bachelor's degree in science, communications, business, or a related field
Experience:
8 years of experience working with extramural grants and contracts in an academic setting, including at least 2 years of significant editing and advising responsibilities for scientific and administrative components
Preferred: Education:
Master's degree in science, communications, business, or a related field
Job Duties
Partner with key stakeholders to design and implement research strategies that enhance the research portfolio
Collaborate with faculty to develop proposal strategies and write or support non-scientific/technical sections of complex and individual grant applications
Provide comprehensive editorial review and advise principal investigators on proposal content and organization
Oversee and support the development of multiple complex funding proposals annually, as well as facilitate individual investigator-led grants
Offer high-level mentorship and expertise in project management, scientific communication, sponsor requirements, and reviewer expectations
Act as a subject matter expert on complex grants and guide Research Development Associates
Manage and coordinate the proposal development process, ensuring integration and compliance with all sponsor requirements
Provide templates and drafts for non-scientific sections such as education, outreach, and administrative plans
Develop and maintain institutional resource materials and contribute to website updates
Analyze and interpret complex scientific, medical, or technical data; may assist with graphics and visuals for applications
Balance multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Lead formal programs to enhance grant writing skills across broader audiences
Facilitate key meetings with faculty to advance research agendas, including strategy sessions and team workshops
Report to the Director of Research Strategy on all relevant activities
Perform other duties as assigned
