The Senior R&D Scientist will initiate, coordinate, and implement new product initiatives on new and existing products. The Senior R&D Scientist ensures R&D responsibilities are aligned with various areas of the business such as procurement, quality assurance, production, marketing, as well as suppliers and customers. Monday-Friday 8 AM-5 PM. This role is 100% on-site in Greendale, Indiana. Formulate and create bench top samples for presentation to inside and outside customers, while maintaining awareness of current plant process capabilities Responsible for selection and evaluation of raw materials; understand impact of raw materials on product behavior Work to acquire the right material at the right cost for product success Responsible for creation of appropriate nutritional and label information; responsible for interpretation of data from experiments/analyses to solve problems and improve efficiency Lead plant line trials and production start-ups; lead first production initiatives and monitor product performance over shelf life; lead troubleshooting and recommendation/ modifications to existing product formula's and/or processes to improve productivity, quality, and/or product cost. Mentor junior scientists Represent the Company when interacting with customers; support Sales and Marketing channels with customer presentations. This requires formal "customer facing" in a professional manner with a sound working knowledge of company products, processes, and capabilities. Other duties as assigned. The Candidate

Bachelor's degree in food science, food engineering, pharmaceutical science or related field required. 7+ years relevant experience in food preparation/food industry (preferably in the confectionery industry) or M.S. in food science, food engineering or related field required. Demonstrated leadership in product development of supplements and confection. Requires experience in troubleshooting and problem solving. Strong interpersonal skills are essential in dealing with people at all levels and in a variety of functional areas; able to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
