The site has the capability to manufacture traditional gelatin gummies as well as 100% plant-based pectin gummies for nutritional supplements and nutraceuticals. With extensive development and manufacturing expertise and a wide range of flavors, shapes, sizes, and colors available, we can work with complex ingredients to help create engaging new products consumers will love. The Process Engineer is a member of the Site Engineering Team. The Process Engineer helps to drive the process and equipment improvements, site initiatives, as well as conducting root cause analysis around process-oriented deviations for site operations. This employee will possess the skills to be able to resolve complex issues that impact manufacturing capability, including a complex understanding of a primary functional area, as well as a basic understanding of all functional areas. The work is "hands on" in a manufacturing environment and requires data gathering and analysis to determine options for process improvements. The Role Create and monitor key equipment performance metrics such as equipment downtime and reject trends. Uses statistical thinking and methods to understand process variability and capability and drive process improvements. Has the ability to discern and recommend best solution among multiple alternatives using information at hand and engineering judgment. Determines process capabilities and bottlenecks, implement improvements, and develop contingency plans for capacity/productivity increases. Identifies failure modes of equipment and maintenance strategies to mitigate impact of failure. Designs and guides the specification and selection of manufacturing/utility equipment to support the process needs. Responsible for the design and implementation of the process systems. Ensures this work meets cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) expectations. Work with operations, validation, process development and quality functions to provide support for the design, installation, start-up, validation, and operation of facility and or process equipment. Works independently and effectively interact with customers, design engineers, site stakeholders, and peers. Assists in synchronizing site functions through all phases of process improvements including new assets. Other duties as assigned. The Candidate Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering with at least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required Previous food, beverage, or dietary supplement experience preferred Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, customers, staff, and other personnel Ability to provide detailed documentation in support of projects; includes business case analysis based on historical data or industry standards Ability to troubleshoot simple to complex process and equipment problems Knowledge of GMP and Quality systems preferred The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit, climb, or balance and taste or smell.
