Department: Katzen Museum Administration Time Type: Part time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Description: Gallery Attendants are charged with the care of the galleries during museum open hours, including public and private events. Attendants provide general information to the public regarding museum programs and exhibitions and assist the museum staff in a variety of administrative and exhibition related responsibilities. These may include tours, facilitating public programming, and assisting in the development of visitor-facing materials. Gallery Attendants are the face of the museum and are an integral part of the lasting impact AU Museum has on our community. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This position offers approximately 10-15 hours per week. Museum open hours are 11am to 4pm, Wednesday through Sunday. Gallery attendants may also be offered opportunities for extra hours working events and programs outside of regular open hours, including evenings. Candidates must be available to work regular weekend days and at least two evening events per semester. Regular Saturday availability 10:30am - 4:30pm is especially desired. Salary Range: $17.95 per hour. Required Education and Experience: This position is only open to AU students. This position requires a strong customer service ability, and a successful candidate must be able to work with the public in a professional and compassionate manner. Preferred Education and Experience: A strong candidate will show experience and/or interest in at least two of the following: Art/Art History, Museums/Collections management, Education (for children and adults), Non-profit work, Community engagement, and/or Customer service fields.
