Position Description
St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Business Attraction Specialist for our well-established Economic Development Department whose headquarters are located in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. St. Johns County residents enjoy a healthy quality of life with many perks including one of the top rated public school systems in the State of Florida, miles of beach shoreline, peaceful estuary scenery of the St. Johns River, long established agriculture and equestrian scene, and the nation's oldest city, historic St. Augustine. fastest growing county in the United States showcasing that there is truly something for everyone in St. Johns County! The St. Johns County Economic Development Department is responsible for the attraction of new business development; expanding and diversifying the tax base; and creating jobs for our local residents. The newly selected Business Attraction Specialist will oversee the County's business attraction strategy and activities. Examples Of Duties
The ideal Business Attraction Specialist candidate must possess St. Johns County's core values of Dedication, Openness, Adaptability, Visionary, Fiscal Responsibility, Integrity, and must work well in a collaborative team environment. Some of the specific tasks include but are not limited to: Oversee the County's business attraction strategy and activities. Develops economic development marketing campaigns that demonstrate the County and its assets. Implements economic development promotional activities to support the County's brand as an excellent place to do business. Coordinates the inter-organizational business attraction team with local partners Coordinates St. Johns County response to Requests for Information from business leads or partner organizations. Ensure informational requests regarding available sites and facilities are addressed and answered in a timely accurate manner. Maintains accurate database of County sites (public and private) with development or business potential, to include ownership, zoning and future land use designations, utility service capacity, etc. Formulates and implements marketing and targeted business attraction strategies utilizing a wide range of media and appropriate methods. Manage relationships with site selection firms and proactively develop new contacts with firms or companies that align with identified target industries. Research, identifies, and makes recommendations to the Tourism and Cultural Development Director and Economic Development Director regarding capital improvement projects and project funding mechanisms that serve as a catalyst for economic development and redevelopment opportunities. Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for the Business Attraction Specialist position are encouraged to apply if they meet the following minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with major coursework in economic development, planning, business, public administration, public relations, marketing or other related course of study to the occupational field. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the major duties of the position, interpreted to require five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in the industry or related field/industries. Equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities to thoroughly understand and perform the major duties of the position. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position. Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others. Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language. Must be able to operate a computer.
