The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of plumbing materials, fixtures, and related supplies to ensure uninterrupted jobsite and warehouse operations. This role works closely with project managers, field supervisors, warehouse personnel, and suppliers to maintain accurate stock levels and secure competitive pricing. Job Title: Buyer Reports To: Vice President of Supply Chain Department: Purchasing Direct Reports: None Location: Lynbrook, NY FLSA Category: Non-Exempt Duties/Responsibilities - Buyer: Request quotes from multiple vendors to price each job in order to purchase plumbing material Analyze bid leveling and negotiate with vendors to reach buy pricing Purchase plumbing materials, fixtures, fittings, piping, valves, tools, and equipment based on project requirements, inventory levels, and lead times Source and negotiate with suppliers to secure best value in terms of price, quality, and delivery Issue purchase orders (including change orders) with vendors, confirm pricing and delivery schedules, and follow up on outstanding orders Coordinate material in the field; trouble shooting deliveries, address any and all quality assurance issues and material count discrepancies Set up delivery of material as requested; maintain daily delivery schedule Specify and obtain submittals for alternate items when needed Maintain strong relationships with vendors, resolve delivery or quality issues, and evaluate supplier performance Collaborate with field and warehouse teams to forecast material needs and avoid delays or shortages Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and project specifications Track and maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation in the ERP or procurement system Research alternative products or vendors in response to availability issues or cost-saving opportunities Requirements - Buyer: High School Diploma required, Associates' or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field preferred Two plus years' purchasing experience, ideally in the construction or plumbing industry Strong knowledge of plumbing materials and construction terminology Excellent negotiation, communication and organizational skills Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure Compensation & Benefits - Buyer: $61k-$75k annually The PAR Group offers comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental and vision and a generous paid time off (PTO) program.
