The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and individualized support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community settings. This includes assistance with daily living activities, recreational outings, transportation to appointments, and advocacy. Compassion, strong communication skills, and reliability are key to success in this role. Career Development
Achieva supports your professional growth through the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) certification program. Earn hourly wage increases as you complete each level: DSP I: +$0.50/hour
DSP II: +$0.50/hour
DSP III: +$1.00/hour
Key Responsibilities
Support individuals in leading lives of personal significance
Provide personal care assistance (e.g., bathing, food prep, laundry)
Administer medications and document care accurately
Transport and accompany individuals to appointments and community events
Support financial independence through money management tasks
Communicate observations, concerns, and successes with the team
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to perform one-person physical transfers required
One year of related experience preferred
Reliable transportation required; valid driver's license preferred
Must meet PA Act 33/34 clearance requirements
