Tug Boat Captain Master

Key Responsibilities: Operate and navigate tugboats safely within the New York Harbor and adjacent waterways. Lead onboard crew, ensuring proper training, safety compliance, and task coordination. Maintain full compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and company safety standards. Oversee routine vessel maintenance, inspections, and operational readiness. Collaborate with port authorities, dispatchers, pilots, and marine contractors. Respond effectively to emergency situations and ensure crew preparedness. Complete and maintain accurate logs, reports, and regulatory documentation. Qualifications: Valid U.S. Coast Guard 200 Ton Master of Towing license. Minimum 3 years of experience operating tugboats in New York Harbor. Deep understanding of maritime navigation, tug operations, and harbor logistics. Knowledge of USCG safety standards, regulations, and reporting protocols. TWIC card and current Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) required. Strong communication and leadership skills with a hands-on approach. Availability for shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Preferred Experience: Barge handling, ship assist, and docking/undocking large vessels. Familiarity with local environmental and navigational challenges. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit to work on and around waterborne vessels. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
