Student Services Case Manager Internship

This internship provides hands-on experience in student support services within a school setting. Under direct supervision, the Student Services Case Manager Intern will assist in assessing and addressing student needs related to academic, social-emotional, and behavioral concerns. The intern will gain experience in case management, resource coordination, student advocacy, and collaboration with school staff, families, and external support services. The internship offers the opportunity to develop skills in student assessment, intervention planning, crisis response, and communication with multidisciplinary teams. The intern will work closely with students whose challenges may impact their educational experience and help implement support strategies to promote student success. Supervision Provided: Weekly individual supervision with an experienced student services professional. Weekly group supervision to integrate university coursework with practical case consultation and skill development with Carver School of Social Work Site Coordinator One-hour weekly MSW supervision with the Field Agency Instructor. Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in a Master's program in Social Work through Carver School of Social Work as an advanced standing student. Eligibility for field placement as determined by Carver School of Social Work MSW Director of Field Education. Interest or experience in student support services, case management, or school-based interventions. Required Skills/Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build rapport with students and families from diverse backgrounds. Strong observational, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with case documentation and resource coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and student information systems. Ability to maintain and safeguard confidential and sensitive information, including but not limited to FERPA and HIPAA compliance. Workdays/Hours: Flexible based on the intern's university schedule. Typical hours: 15 hours per week over the 16-week academic semester for two consecutive semesters. Essential Job Functions: Assist with student intake assessments, case management planning, and follow-up. Provide individual and small-group support for students with academic, social-emotional, or behavioral challenges. Support crisis intervention efforts by helping assess situations, identifying potential solutions, and connecting students with appropriate resources. Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, faculty and staff to develop and implement student support plans. Maintain documentation of student progress, referrals, and interventions. Connect students and families with internal and external resources, including mental health services, tutoring, and community programs. Attend and contribute to Student Services team meetings, IEP/504 meetings, and intervention planning discussions as needed. Participate in school-wide prevention and wellness initiatives. Serve as an advocate for students and help ensure they receive appropriate support. Engage in ongoing professional development and training. Perform other related duties as assigned.
