Staff Accountant - Financial Reporting

Major responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Conduct routine daily, monthly, and annual tasks and functions related to processing and recording disbursement transactions. Assist with yearly financial audits including, but not limited to Accounts Payable and LWCC audits; obtain necessary information and/or documentation and prepare reports for external auditors as requested. Ensure transactions and positive pay payroll checks are properly recorded. Research ACH payments, open items on bank statements, and request reversals as needed. Process and approve a variety of financial transactions related to MCCNO accounts including wire transfers, weekly benefit transfers, expense reports, positive pay, Intellix disbursements, stop payment placements and changes, and other banking transactions relating to A/P; ensure proper approvals are obtained for accurate processing. Review and approve disbursement reports and A/P reports to compare against daily payment run. Prepare annual unclaimed property report for the State of Louisiana. Prepare weekly cash requirement report for Financial Reporting Manager and Accounts Payable team. Submit Travel and Entertainment card statement to Financial Operations team. Prepare manual journal entries. Prepare the monthly accounts payable accrual list in order to record expenses in the appropriate period, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and take corrective measures to resolve any discrepancies; reconcile the company-wide Open Payables and A/P trade account on a monthly basis. Collaborate with other members of the Financial Operations and Financial Reporting Division to support financial reporting and compliance: Assist in budget preparation and/or review. Assist with audit and external report requests. Assist with monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliation. Assist with special projects as needed. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Governmental accounting experience preferred.
