Director of Admissions

River Oaks Hospital (a UHS affiliated hospital), located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents, and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders. River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient). The Director of Admissions directs the operations of the Admissions department and the quality of assessment, referral, and admissions activities of the facility through policies, procedures, performance improvement, and the supervision of licensed and non-licensed admissions clinicians; assigns responsibilities to assure prompt response to patient needs; reviews and maintains all documents and departmental logs and assigns physicians to admitted patients; performs admissions responsibilities and provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff; performs duties in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and the facility's mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications required: Nursing degree or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Psychology or Human Services field. RN, LCSW, LMFT, or LPC required. Prior intake, assessment, admission, and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population required, preferably in an inpatient setting. 1-2 years management experience required.
