Production Supervisor
We're hiring for a 3rd Shift Supervisor! Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM. Note: Occasional Saturdays may be required. Opportunity Responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising activities of the Iron Foundry - Induction Melting Department and all supporting functions as necessary to provide the required amount of melted iron of correct temperature and composition as noted in iron specifications. Specific Responsibilities Read prints and update and maintain prints for refractory work and mechanical equipment. Maintain inventories of purchased melt materials including steel, cast, and shredded. Change charge based on revert inventory and charge material cost. Record all changes. Inspect incoming raw materials and determine disposition of defective material and issue SDMR Select and maintain refractory inventory. Responsible for daily furnace repair schedules. Maintain performance records for ladles, furnaces, launders, HMC ladles and schedule repairs to maintain adequate supply. Schedule melt furnaces for ductile iron production based on electrical reading. Monitor channel furnace reactance and shell temperature and schedule repairs as needed (hot gunning repairs). Maintain auto-pour and make repairs between major rebuilds and supply stopper rods for production. Troubleshoot refractory problems and recommend changes. Stay current with refractory technology and maintain contact with refractory vendors. Adjust and maintain Melt lab (CE) computer program. Responsible for communicating production run times and iron schedules. Monitor and react to ductile iron process. Maintain and update CC (contract casting) computer program. Keep Contract Casting computer program current. Make changes to the program to fit quality and production requirements. Schedule manpower to meet production requirements considering vacation and absenteeism. Coordinate manpower with first and second shift to insure adequate staffing to meet production schedules. Skills/Requirements Foundry furnace and ladle refractories experience is preferred. The ability to troubleshoot refractory problems and recommend changes is preferred. The ability to respond to emergencies is also required. The ability to read and update prints, basic computer skills with the ability to understand/learn new programs required. Previous supervisory experience preferred. A minimum of an associate's degree, technical diploma, or equivalent work experience.
