Job Opportunity at Fort Bridger State Historic Site

The State of Wyoming is hiring for seasonal positions at Fort Bridger State Historic Site. Positions are available for the summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with some roles potentially extending earlier or later. The site maintains and interprets historic structures and remnants from five eras of occupation, including the Mountain Men, Mormons, Military, Milkbarn/Motel, and Museum. The site also interprets the many trails that passed through Fort Bridger. Three types of seasonal positions are available: Seasonal Visitor Services Associate

Interpretation and Curation:

Greet visitors, collect admission fees, provide excellent customer service, answer visitor questions, handle monetary transactions, perform guided tours, restock gift shop shelves, answer a multi-line telephone system, assist with general administrative duties, perform opening and closing duties, and provide janitorial services. Seasonal Maintenance Worker:

Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance, minor carpentry repairs, painting, mowing, assist with the set-up and take-down of facilities during special events, assist staff in the construction, installation, maintenance, renovation of grounds and buildings, clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings, operate and drive a variety of vehicles and light and heavy equipment, follow proper handling and safety procedures involving cleaning chemicals and fuel products, and provide excellent customer service. Preferences and requirements include: Preference will be given to applicants who are professional while providing excellent customer service. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be at least 16 years of age. Detail-oriented, good interpersonal skills, willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day, experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales, excellent customer service skills, ability to manage and complete multiple projects, basic construction and maintenance knowledge, basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, and basic safety awareness of equipment use. Physical working conditions include working outdoors in all weather conditions and being able to lift at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
