Project Manager - Emerging Technology

The Project Manager - Emerging Technology supports the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) in leading technology and innovation initiatives that enhance agency operations, meet statutory requirements, and improve service delivery capabilities. This role oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects, ensuring alignment with DPS goals while managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities : • Lead large, complex technology-related projects from initiation to completion • Apply Agile project management methodologies to deliver solutions effectively • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, define, and analyze business requirements • Oversee project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations • Monitor project progress and adjust priorities to meet deadlines and deliverables • Facilitate communication across cross-functional teams, including technical and business units • Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies • Prepare and present status reports and project documentation to leadership • Support continuous improvement by identifying process optimization opportunities • Ensure projects adhere to DPS policies, procedures, and quality standards

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications : •
3+ years
of experience with Agile project management methodologies and practices •
3+ years
of experience leading large, complex technology projects •
3+ years
of experience developing and analyzing complex business requirements • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications : •
1+ year
of experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes •
1+ year
of experience documenting business technology challenges • PMP, CSM, or other relevant project management certification • Experience working in a government or public safety environment

Work Location and Schedule : • Location: 5805 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752 • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time, excluding Texas state holidays • Work Arrangement: Hybrid - primarily remote with on-site work as needed • May require occasional work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays • Services expected from September 15, 2025, through September 14, 2026, up to 750 hours, with possible extensions
