Senior Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Glendale Heights. This pivotal role involves overseeing the complete product lifecyclefrom new product introduction to process optimization and requalification of existing productswithin a highly regulated machining environment. Our focus is on using advanced manufacturing techniques such as CNC milling, EDM (wire and sinker), 3-axis creep feed, and 5-axis grinding. In this hands-on position, you will act as a technical liaison with major OEM customers, working on innovative manufacturing programs while providing mentorship to junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities:

Develop and refine manufacturing processes for complex precision components utilizing multi-axis CNC milling, EDM, and advanced grinding techniques. Serve as the technical point of contact for key clients, managing engineering communication and change control processes. Lead process validation and requalification efforts for legacy components, ensuring adherence to both internal and customer-specific timelines. Design machining strategies, including tool paths, fixtures, feeds/speeds, and EDM parameters to enhance quality, efficiency, and tool longevity. Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Tooling, and external vendors to implement effective and scalable production solutions. Conduct root cause analyses and continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield enhancement and scrap reduction. Mentor junior engineers and assist in training operators on new or updated processes. Support CAD/CAM programming and simulation using tools such as Mastercam, Vericut, and SolidWorks. Participate in audits, first article inspections (FAI), and prepare documentation packages (e.g., PPAP/FAI). Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. 510+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in highly regulated industries such as aerospace, energy, automotive, or medical devices. Demonstrated expertise in multi-axis CNC milling, EDM (wire and sinker), and creep feed or CBN grinding. Strong proficiency in CAD/CAM platforms (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks). Ability to interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and technical documentation. Proven experience in customer-facing engineering roles. Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems. Preferred:

Experience machining high-temperature alloys (e.g., Inconel, Hastelloy). Background in legacy product requalification or reverse engineering. Familiarity with Haas CNC controls. Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or CI training/certification. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
