Location: Salisbury, MD, US, 21801 Position Overview: Engineering Technicians may utilize design information, test equipment, and/or software to successfully prototype and test filter products and assemblies. Must have good understanding of various filter technologies (lumped element, cavity, distributed, ceramic, thin-film, etc.), active circuitry (PIN Diodes, amplifiers, bias, and control), linear and non-linear RF parameters, and troubleshooting. Must be able to competently use with basic hand tools such as soldering irons, electronic assembly, calipers, and hand tools. The position supports engineering in prototyping, pre-production, and resolving production related issues. Must have excellent communications skills and documentation skills. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities: Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of technical tasks in support of the engineering department including prototyping, troubleshooting, testing, support production related issues, documentation, design of experiments, evaluation and characterization of components. Required to use test equipment like network analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, function generators, high power amplifiers, and multi-meters. Will be required to setup, perform and understand meaning of measurements including, but not limited to, gain, noise figure, 1 dB compression, intermodulation, harmonics, spurious, switching speed, etc. Accurately troubleshoot problems and effectively communicates solution to stakeholders. May work from minimal documentation, written or verbal instructions, schematics, rough sketches, diagrams, layouts, datasheets, and plans often requiring interpretation. Works on assignments requiring sound judgment and self-initiative. Requires excellent troubleshooting acumen. Applies significant electronic theory to configure, model, layout, prototype, build, test, troubleshoot, determine solutions and modify electronic product for engineering efforts applicable to the department. May assist engineers with design and development of new processes and/or products. Qualifications Summary: Associates Degree in Electronic Technology, or equivalent military training, with 5 years related experience in the RF and Microwave testing and tuning field. In absence of a degree, 10 years work experience required. Previous soldering experience or skills preferred. Thorough knowledge of calibration, components, circuit function, interpreting drawings, troubleshooting, and schematics. Must Have Requirements: AA ET degree with 5 years' experience or 10 years work experience in related field U.S Person Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (is applicable) Works from minimal documentation, written or verbal instructions, schematics, rough sketches, diagrams, and layouts. Physical Demands: Work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Require repetitive use of hands and fingers in the tuning process. Work may require some walking, standing, carrying light items (up to 10 lbs.), and recurring reaching or similar activities. Ability to adjust the eye through the use of appropriate tools to bring objects into sharp focus. Work Environment: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of a manufacturing environment. Personal protective equipment provided and must be worn in designated areas working with tools with hot temperatures. Work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
