Corrections Lieutenant Position
We're looking for a Corrections Lieutenant to join the Emergency Medical Services Division at Louisiana State Penitentiarya dynamic role combining leadership, security, and emergency medical care. You'll oversee the Sick Call Division, serve as acting Shift Supervisor when needed, and step in as an EMT/Paramedic during staff shortages. This position also includes reviewing incident reports, ensuring medical protocol compliance, and serving as the ranking security officer in a specialized treatment unit. Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following: 1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR 2. One year of experience in any field; OR 3. Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified. Job Duties: Incumbent directly supervises the sick call division for the LSP Emergency Medical Services department. In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, incumbent serves as acting Shift Supervisor and performs all Shift Supervisor duties. Incumbent functions as an EMT/Paramedic either in the Robert E. Barrow Assessment/Treatment Center or on the ambulance as needed due to staff shortages. Direct patient care according to departmental medical protocols or as ordered by the Medical Director. Reviews reports of irregularities and disturbances submitted by subordinates and may determine a course of action. Prepares reports for supervisory review. Serves as the ranking security officer in a specialized treatment unit. THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED BY PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF LA DPS&C
