River Oaks Hospital, a UHS affiliated private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents, and children, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is seeking a dynamic and talented Social Worker/Therapist. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders. Services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient). Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Clinical Services Director or the director of outpatient Services, the Therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy to meet caseload requirements. Responsible for developing and writing admission assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries within established time frames and formats. Is a liaison with families, outside agencies, and referral sources. Responsible for assessment, design, structure, and implementation of therapy services to best meet the needs of patients and families. Performs duties in accordance with the CMS Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and facility mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards. Two years direct practice experience and/or clinical training specific to individual, family and group therapy. Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health field required. Licensure/Certification: Must have a current certification or licensure by the State of Louisiana (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) or under supervision pursuing licensure for LCSW, LPC, or LMFT. Working Knowledge: Must have good clinical skills to assess dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan. Must have good analytical ability to evaluate information reported by all members of the treatment team and revise treatment strategies accordingly. Must have communication and teamwork abilities to support the clinicians, nurses, and utilization review colleagues working with the population. Must possess a working knowledge of how to identify appropriate referral resources within the community and organizational skills to engage in case management, including discharge planning.
