Irvine Ranch Water District is seeking candidates for a professional engineering position with a salary range of $94,544.88 to $147,876.00 annually. The position is located in Irvine, CA and is full-time. The Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) is a progressive, values-driven agency with a reputation for leading-edge financial management practices, water recycling programs, and urban runoff treatment. IRWD provides high-quality drinking water, sewage collection and treatment, and environmentally sound urban runoff treatment to its customers. The District is governed by a publicly elected five-member Board of Directors and supervised by the General Manager. The position involves planning and overseeing the design and preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water, sewage, and recycled water systems. This includes hydraulic planning studies, facility condition assessments, capital asset management planning, and capital budgeting. The role also involves coordinating planning efforts and serving as a project manager for capital improvement projects. The position is within the Infrastructure Planning Division of Engineering and may be filled at the Assistant Engineer or Associate Engineer level, depending on the needs of the District and the qualifications of the applicant. Assistant Engineer: $7,878.74 to $10,635.00 monthly Associate Engineer: $8,946.83 to $12,323.00 monthly The recruitment will establish an eligibility list for future vacancies in the Engineering series. Essential duties include acting as a project manager for planning, design, and construction projects, preparing correspondence and reports, developing preliminary and final designs, maintaining records, preparing contractual documents, reviewing designs and construction submittals, and complying with District safety practices. The position also requires clear verbal and written communication skills and occasional travel to other worksites or conferences. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering or a related field, and experience as described below: Assistant Engineer: Six (6) months of professional engineering experience, preferably with a public agency or consultant/contract provider to a public agency. Associate Engineer: Three (3) years of professional engineering experience, preferably with a public agency or consultant/contract provider to a public agency, and registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of California. Four (4) years of additional experience will qualify without registration as a P.E. CAD experience is desirable. Physical demands include sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and standing. Occasional lifting up to 35 lbs is required. Good vision and hearing are necessary for reading documents, working with computer screens, and performing tasks that require fine detail. The job may require sustained concentration, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. The office environment is generally equivalent to a typical office setting with adequate lighting, air conditioning, and ventilation systems.
