Overview
Performs technical skills and assists surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room. May also perform similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned. Responsibilities
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation. Pursues professional growth and development. Performs all responsibilities/duties required, as defined in the scope of service, to address the unique needs of the client. Functions as a role model for current and new surgical staff. Attends all required safety training programs and understands responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and job-specific hazards. Adheres to the hospital's exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Promotes effective working relationships and collaborates as part of a department/unit team, both inter- and intradepartmentally, to achieve the department's/unit's goals and objectives. Maintains accurate documentation. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications
Graduate of a formal, accredited surgical technician training program. Six months of recent operating room experience. One year of clinical experience preferred. BLS certification required. Certification in surgical technology preferred. Central Sterile Processing experience preferred. Hospital Description
