The Director of Human Resources is responsible to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and serves in a key leadership role to provide strategic and operational direction of the Human Resources department. This hands-on leader is responsible for the planning, developing and implementing of Tamarack Health's overall Human Resources strategy, including areas of talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and HRIS optimization. Leading the Human Resources team, this leader works collaboratively with Organizational Development, Employee Health, Accounting, and leadership and staff across the entire organization to foster a culture of high engagement, resulting in exceptional patient experiences. Responsibilities/Duties: Partnering with Sr. Leadership, develops, implements and monitors HR strategies aligned with the company's mission, vision, and long-term goals. Serves as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on organizational design, workforce planning, and HR best practices. Leads the HR team to ensure high performance and professional development. Leads by example by working collaboratively across sites and functions. Leads initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction and retention. Oversees all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance and benefits administration. Consults Sr Leaders on decisions impacting all management levels, fostering sustainable transformation with their business negotiations. Implements efficient workflows to maximize productivity and performance. Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal and state requirements. Oversees and manages capital and operational budgets, policies and procedures, and compliance with accrediting agencies related to departments within the scope of authority. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field. Master's degree preferred. SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification strongly preferred. A minimum of 8 years of progressive responsibility and experience in Human Resources A minimum of 5 years of direct leadership experience overseeing staff and programs preferred Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making. Experience with HRIS systems preferred Experience in a union environment preferred Professional Skills & Expectations: Must ensure confidentiality of all information and records of a sensitive nature. Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Establishes personal and professional credibility, gains respect and builds trust with leadership, peers, and staff. Known as collaborative, relationship-oriented, visible member of the leadership team within the organization. Competent in Microsoft Office and skills working with spreadsheets, data entry, power points, Internet/Intranet, etc. Ability to manage multiple priorities, effectively monitor performance objectives, work and make decisions under pressure and meet deadlines, goals and objectives as set forth. Creates an environment of open dialogue, inquiry and continuous development by asking for feedback and improving practice. Exhibits ability to deal with difficult situations demonstrating good judgement and tactfulness, while remaining professional and courteous. Actively participated in the department's performance improvement activities. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions: Occasionally: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like. Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Adjusting or moving objects up to 40 pounds in all directions. Operate a motor vehicle. Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day. Constantly: Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
