The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, is recruiting for an Accounting Technician 2 located in Juneau! No cover letter required! This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14. What you will be doing: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our team in supporting the division's financial operations. This position is responsible for processing accounts payable transactions, including general warrants, inter-agency payments, auto pay, and general obligation encumbrance transactions. In addition, the role provides essential accounting support to the Business Enterprise Program, contributing to the accurate and efficient management of financial activities across the division. The working environment you can expect: Located in downtown Juneau, our office sits at the base of the Juneau-Douglas Bridge, offering convenient access, plenty of parking, and proximity to Overstreet Park and the scenic Whale Walk. Your spacious workstation is equipped with dual monitors and an ergonomic setup, supporting both comfort and productivity. This position also offers the potential for a hybrid telework schedule following the successful completion of a one-year probationary period. Who we are looking for: We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies: Accounting Operations: Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer's accountability. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Auditing: Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program audits. Minimum Qualifications: One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience. Substitutions: Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience. Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
