Advanced Practice Provider Leader
This position reports to the Chief Operating Office (COO) and is responsible for the delivery of Advanced Practice Provider's (APP) high quality care to the patients of AMP. The APP Leader will be responsible for planning, directing and evaluating the activities of the AMP APP staff. The APP Leader will provide continued leadership and staff development, set quality standards, implement policies and procedures and evaluate patient care needs. The APP Leader will work alongside the APPs, Director of Clinical Services, their direct staff, the Medical Director, and Managing Physicians as an effective team. Job Supervisory Responsibilities: AMP Advanced Practice Providers. Essential Functions: In collaboration with the Physicians, manages and directs the APP staff to ensure all patient and practice needs are met. Analyzes the workload and assigns work assignments for the clinical staff which supports adequate clinical support to each provider, as well as ensuring that all clinical needs are consistently met for the delivery of quality patient care. Functions as a urology APP, working with providers to deliver high-quality hands-on patient care. Evaluates the performance of the APP staff by monitoring individual work performance and obtaining feedback from patients, physicians, and other personnel in order to accurately evaluate individual performance. Collaborates with HR in resolving complex employee related issues. Performs disciplinary actions as well as develops and communicates expectations. Monitors daily operating activity such as work load, staff productivity, and budgeting and plans future practice objectives and goals in collaboration with the Office Manager and physicians. Establishes and documents proper urology office APP protocols for clinical procedures. Establishes and maintains quality APP improvement initiatives throughout the practice. Coordinates compliance activities in regard to APP staff in relation to HIPPA, OSHA, and medical billing practices. Implements training initiatives and evaluates education information with the assistance of the HR Director to ensure continuing staff development. Performs in-services as needed to ensure proper procedures and techniques are being utilized by the clinical staff. Partners with compliance to ensure all APP staff maintain the proper credentials, licensures and required certifications are up-to-date. Attends AMP Leadership meetings as needed. Clinical Practice: 80% of duties, Supervisory 20% of duties Clinical practice duties and responsibilities are subject to the appropriate APP job description Performs all other duties as assigned. Education / Licensure / Experience: Bachelor's degree with a Physician Assistant Certificate Must possess NCCPA Certification or be eligible for certification exam Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or an Associates degree in Nursing Current New York State nursing license State Board of Nursing certification as a Nurse Practitioner Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; Knowledge of quality, safety, and infection control standards; Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office systems; Knowledge of medical terminology; Ability to understand the importance of and respect the confidentiality of all patient information; Ability to conceptualize workflow, develop plans, and implement appropriate actions; Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships; Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form; Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff and work under multiple priorities; Knowledge of health education theory and practice; Knowledge of current principles and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation and diagnosis and treatment; Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories; Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments; Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures; Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. Work Hours: As a healthcare provider of the Associated Medical Professionals of NY, PLLC, work hours are not fixed, but are structured to provide the best quality patient care possible. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday 8:30 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. with a half hour meal break. When normal business hours are extended due to practice needs the APP may be requested to provide coverage. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in a well-lighted office setting with some time spent in an exam/procedure room setting. Work environment involves exposure to potentially hazardous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Travel to multiple office locations as needed. Physical Demands: The position requires sitting, standing, walking and stooping throughout the day. Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Ability to push and/or pull up to 30 pounds. Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone and other office equipment is required.
