Senior Bacterial Core Technician
The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a potential need for a Senior Bacterial Core Technician to support our government customer located in Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD. Description Of Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: Responsible for BSL-3 laboratory operations and training in animal manipulations. Perform in vitro Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) testing of potential therapeutic compounds against Tier 1 bacteria. Participate in mouse, rat, rabbit, or other small animal studies. Participate in weekly lab meetings and assist in development and design with current and future in vitro and in vivo work. Participate in mouse, rat, rabbit, or other small animal BSL-2 pharmacokinetics and toxicology studies. Support the in vivo pharmacology research program. Assist with data analyses and drafting reports for internal or external customers. Work with mass spectrometry, chromatography, HPLC MS/MS. Perform bioanalytical data acquisition, data analysis, and reporting of results. Complete media/reagent preparations. Assist with animal challenges and bacterial challenge preparations. Perform animal injections and observations. Support divisional in vivo projects. Perform small animal necropsies. Process animal gavage and blood collections. Place GFEBS orders for supplies and equipment. Maintain laboratories in BSL-2 and BSL-3. Perform or assist with BSAT Inventory Management. Conduct or assist with Equipment Inventory Management. Perform or assist with monthly Laboratory Management. Review relevant literature. Directly contribute to the design, rationale, and be point-of-contact for small animal studies. Contribute to study progress reports and scientific manuscripts. Assist in establishing material transfer agreements. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Required Degree/Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology or similar science and 5 years of relevant laboratory experience. Required Skills And Experience:
Minimum of two to three years performing BSL-3 laboratory operations and training in animal manipulations. Minimum of two to three years performing in-vitro Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) testing. Willingness to work with diversity sets of bacteria. Minimum of three to five years conducting small animal studies. Minimum of two to three years' experience working within IACUC approved protocols. Research experience in pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. Direct experience in in-process testing and characterization of biopharmaceutical products. Minimum of two to three years' experience with Applied Biosystems Analyst, Excel, and the Mass Spec Quantitation Software MultiQuant. Minimum of two to three years performing Animal Necropsies, animal gavage and animal blood collections. Minimum of two to three years performing Equipment Inventory Management. Minimum of two to three years performing Laboratory Management within BSL-2 and BSL-3 environments. Required Citizenship And Clearance:
