We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC, Huntsville, AL and Burlington, MA with an additional 36 locations across the U.S. Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mid Level Sheet Metal Technician to assist the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division's Naval Architecture and Engineering Department in achieving new or improved understanding in concepts and technology, fundamental and applied research of the marine environment, engineering and naval architecture, hydromechanics, maneuvering and control, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and training. Location: West Bethesda MD Job Status: FT Travel: 0% Required Qualifications / Skills
At least three years experience as Sheet Metal Technician. General Education Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Certificate. Minimum Secret Clearance Desired Qualifications / Skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines. Responsibilities
Responsibilities include providing sheet metal fabrication and metalwork support to model or component development or other activities as needed to support R&D or testing activities. Specific support includes researching, planning, designing, advising, preparing, operating, inspecting, measuring, recording, testing, diagnosing, and documenting welding activities, sheet metal activities, and specialized tooling activities.
