Director, Data Strategy and Impact Analytics
The Director of Data Strategy and Impact Analytics is a part of a dynamic team responsible for architecting data systems, generating actionable insights through advanced analytics and AI, and ensuring the ethical and strategic use of data to drive programmatic and policy impact at The Jed Foundation (JED). This role integrates rigorous evaluation with modern data tools and platforms to support The Jed Foundation's mission. This position focuses on synthesizing data from research, policy, and practicetranslating complex data into insights that inform operational strategy, drive continuous quality improvement, enhance stakeholder reporting, and support systems-level change. The Director will support a culture of innovation and learning across design, impact, and technology teams, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization. Data Analysis and Impact Reporting Support the Senior Director of Research and Program Evaluation to ensure timely and well-executed data collection and analysis Lead and or collaborate on the analysis of programmatic, organizational, and population-level data to support the successful implementation of our school and CBO programs, executive decision-making, fundraising, and funder reporting. Translate complex analytic findings into compelling narratives and data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Python, SQL, Stata, and RStudio. Partner with internal stakeholders to inform and guide the design and implementation of new, AI-supported reporting tools and dashboards delivered to JED's school and community partners Support peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and high-level briefings to external stakeholders. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement In partnership with the Senior Director of Research and Program Evaluation, develop and implement frameworks for continuous quality improvement and data fidelity monitoring to enhance and maintain program fidelity and implementation excellence. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments of data systems to ensure reliability and completeness. Collaborate with program teams to evaluate fidelity, benchmark performance, and guide data-informed refinements. Data Management and Architecture Facilitate and/or lead projects associated with the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and interoperable data infrastructure. Oversee and/or support data pipeline development and maintenance Develop data governance structures, including steward roles, metadata standards, and quality control systems, including workflow and process optimization. Collaborate with the Technology Team to ensure all data use and systems comply with regulatory and ethical guidelines related to privacy, equity, and security. Advanced Analytics and AI Integration Collaborate with internal teams and external software development partners to lead and or facilitate the integration of AI tools, including generative models and predictive analytics, to optimize program evaluation, implementation, and decision-making. Lead and supervise the development of automated dashboards. Facilitate learning feedback loops to increase strategic visibility and engagement. Apply statistical and machine learning methods to identify trends and forecast program outcomes. Support the discovery and implementation of new data-led business models and services to influence the field of youth mental health Leadership and Capacity Building Supervise and mentor a cross-functional team of analysts, engineers, and data scientists. Promote a data-informed organizational culture through technical assistance, tool development, and coaching. Champion inclusive data practices, supporting equity-driven evaluation and human-centered measurement strategies. Strategic Collaboration and Innovation Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on how to best leverage data and insights for organizational impact. Closely collaborate with Digital Product, Technology, and Programming teams to inform and design data-related solutions. Collaborate with research institutions, technology partners, and national networks to advance innovation. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, Public Policy or a related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in data management, strategy, analytics, data architecture, and evaluation, ideally in mission-driven or public-sector contexts. Proven experience in building and applying AI, predictive modeling, and data visualization to real-world program and policy settings. Strong understanding of data protection regulations and ethical standards. Proficient with data tools and platforms including Qualtrics, Python, RStudio, SQL, Stata, Tableau, Snowflake. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated success in building data governance systems, cross-team collaboration, and producing high-quality deliverables. Proven success at establishing, implementing, and managing programs. Skilled in project management practices, (e.g. RASCI models and other tools). Problem-identification and problem-solving abilities Collaborative, works well with organizations to help bring out their ideas and recommend solutions that address needs. Knowledge of suicide prevention and mental health promotion and a commitment to The Jed Foundation's mission and guiding principles. We're partnering with high schools and colleges to strengthen their mental health, substance misuse and suicide prevention programs and systems. We're equipping teens and young adults with the skills and knowledge to help themselves and each other. We're encouraging community awareness, understanding and action for young adult mental health. Pay Ranges: The range listed on this job posting is based on JED's compensation posting ranges. The range(s) are informed by market research conducted across various U.S. regions and are designed to account for geographic differences in compensation. Actual salary will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, and work location and may not exceed the posted pay ranges. Location/Travel Information: This position is primarily hybrid and based out of the New York City Tri-State Area, which supports all of JED's core services and functions. For roles specifically supporting JED's Policy & Advocacy team, the position may be based in the Washington, D.C. region. In-person attendance will be required for periodic retreats or business meetings at JED's central office in NYC or other locations as designated by JED leadership. Additional travel may be required based on team or organizational needs. Work Authorization: All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, including typing, viewing screens, and engaging in virtual meetings.
