The Director, Personalization - eCommerce will lead the personalization strategy development and execution across Walmart's eCommerce business. This role works across the organization to align, enable, and support the development of the Walmart eCommerce personalization roadmap. This leader will report to the Sr. Director, eCommerce and work closely with the eCommerce leadership team.
What you'll do:
- Owns and drives an eCommerce P&L focused on improving on-site personalization, including developing personalized customer experiences, item recommendations, targeted promos, badges and offers, gamification, and loyalty programs.
- Develops and executes a personalization strategy aligned with business goals to enhance customer experience. Communicates vision, strategy, and updates to cross-functional senior leaders; ensures successful rollout and implementation across the broader eCommerce team.
- Leads a data-driven approach by collaborating with product management, data scientists, and analytics teams to identify key metrics and build models that deliver personalized recommendations across all customer journey touchpoints.
- Influences strategic direction through data-driven decisions; identifies and executes improvement opportunities; leads A/B testing; develops creative solutions; and prioritizes tasks to meet business needs.
- Creates strategic roadmaps and provides insights by sourcing, analyzing, and interpreting data; identifies trends; develops scorecards; and translates data analysis into actionable business recommendations.
- Leads partnerships with stakeholders across Product, Design, Site Merchandising, and Engineering to develop innovations and tools for discovery and conversion, leveraging best practices and competitive intelligence to improve the customer experience.
- Cultivates an environment of integrity and ethics, integrating these values into all programs and practices; develops consequences for violations; and supports an open-door policy.
- Builds internal and external partnerships to achieve business goals, sponsors community outreach initiatives, and engages stakeholders in developing and executing business plans and initiatives.
Qualifications
- 7-10 years in eCommerce, digital leadership, management consulting, corporate strategy, or related fields. Martech, Adtech, and/or Personalization experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to structure ambiguous problems, analyze data, and synthesize insights into actionable strategies.
- Quantitative expertise with experience in deriving insights from complex data sets.
- Ability to connect creative thinking to business outcomes and financial impacts.
- Excellent relationship-building skills at all organizational levels, including influencing senior management.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts into clear, concise messages.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- Proven leadership in inspiring, motivating, and developing teams.
Walmart offers competitive pay, performance bonuses, comprehensive health benefits, 401(k), stock options, paid time off, and other benefits including education programs through Live Better U. The annual salary range is $143,000 to $286,000, with additional performance-based bonuses and stock options.
Minimum Qualifications
Option 1: Bachelor’s in a relevant field plus 6 years of experience in project or program management, or related areas.
Option 2: 8 years of experience in project or program management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of experience in project or program management. Knowledge of creating accessible digital experiences, WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and inclusive design is highly valued.
