Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Support and maintain the existing SQL Server 2017 environment, ensuring data availability, performance, and reliability for ongoing business operations. Design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions in Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse, and related services. Develop and optimize data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and integrations between systems using modern tools and best practices. Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and data models to support business intelligence and reporting needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand data needs, and deliver effective solutions. Ensure data quality, security, and governance across both legacy and modern data platforms. Document data architecture, processes, and workflows to support maintainability and knowledge sharing. Monitor and troubleshoot data systems and integrations, proactively identifying and resolving issues. Contribute to the planning and execution of the data platform migration strategy, balancing short-term support with long-term transformation goals. Stay current with industry trends and Azure technologies, recommending improvements and innovations where appropriate. Understand, debug and troubleshoot SQL, SQL Server databases, Python code and APIs
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data development, or database administration roles. 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse, or equivalent. Strong understanding of data modeling Strong background in SQL Server, including performance tuning, stored procedures, and database design. Proven experience developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and data models. Development experience using Microsoft T-SQL, Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, Python and API technologies Hands-on experience with data integration tools and building ETL/ELT pipelines. Experience supporting and modernizing legacy data systems while transitioning to cloud-based platforms. Exposure to different database management systems, including RDBMS system (e.g. PostgreSQL), NoSQL technologies, and columnar databases, with a willingness to deepen expertise as needed. Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance best practices in cloud environments. Experience working in cross-functional teams and translating business requirements into technical solutions. Background in Construction, Single Family, Multi-Family, and/or Commercial Property Management and/or Accounting is a plus Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps) for deploying data pipelines, infrastructure as code, and analytics solutions.
