Your Opportunity:
This is a full-time, in person position reporting to the President of Operations. As the Senior Middleware Architect will lead the design and implementation of middleware solutions that seamlessly connect core banking systems, APIs, third-party integrations, and front-end applications. This role ensures our middleware layer supports secure, scalable, and high-performance financial transactions across a cloud-native environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and architect middleware platforms that support enterprise-grade transaction processing and service orchestration for MyBambu operations. Define and enforce integration architecture standards, patterns, and best practices (e.g., microservices, event-driven design, service mesh). Lead the selection, configuration, and deployment of middleware technologies (e.g., MuleSoft, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, TIBCO, or custom-built APIs). Collaborate cross-functionally with security, DevOps, compliance, mobile, and backend teams to ensure seamless system integration. Drive modernization initiatives and legacy system integrations through reusable middleware layers. Monitor system performance, scalability, and resilience across the middleware stack. Evaluate new tools, vendors, and technologies to improve API gateway and message broker strategies. Provide architectural oversight and mentorship to engineering teams. Ensure regulatory and security compliance (e.g., PCI DSS, SOC 2, GDPR) in all integration strategies. Other duties as assigned. Skill and Abilities:
Deep understanding of middleware architectures, integration frameworks, and enterprise service buses (ESB). Expertise in API design (REST/GraphQL), message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and streaming platforms. Solid experience with authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML) and API security. Proficiency in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker). Ability to translate business requirements into scalable architecture. Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning capabilities. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Proven leadership in cross-functional, Agile/Scrum environments. Job Requirements:
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field. 8+ years of experience in software architecture, with at least 5 years in middleware or integration roles. Prior experience in fintech, banking, or a highly regulated digital environment preferred. Middleware certifications (e.g., MuleSoft Certified Architect, Kafka Certification) are a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana). Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Bambu Benefits:
Excellent medical coverage. Fifteen (15) days of Paid Time Off. Seven (7) days of Paid Holidays. Our small family corporate culture.
