Construction / Claims and Forensics Scheduling / Rail, Light-Rail, and Transportation Projects We are seeking a seasoned
Associate Director, Claims and Forensic Scheduling
to lead and oversee large-scale rail and transportation projects within California. The Associate Director, Claims and Forensic Scheduling is responsible for developing forensic delay analyses required to determine the merit and quantification of time extensions to contractors. This role also provides recommendations to project teams on how to respond to contractors’ Time Impact Analyses and claims. In addition to forensic analysis efforts, this role is responsible for regional scheduling and reporting support, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of scheduling data. This pivotal role will be instrumental in leading complex claims and forensic scheduling efforts, supporting business development, and contributing to both client-facing and internal corporate initiatives. This is a hybrid role based in California, with approximately 10-20% travel to client sites. You will have the opportunity to attend industry events, client meetings, and support various projects. WHAT YOU’LL DO Perform forensic delay analyses and develop comprehensive summaries of findings, presenting these findings to executive teams. Develop delay causation reports that meticulously document the chronology of events related to project delays. Train and manage scheduling team members on forensic schedule analysis and causation analysis development. Coordinate and collaborate with regional staff, Project Controls Managers, and other consultants to provide planning, development, scheduling, reporting, and maintenance of scheduling data for large-scale projects. Provide recommendations to improve schedule review and tracking processes. Offer recommendations for increased schedule reliability and identify the longest path and critical schedule activities. Perform reviews and analyses of construction schedules for risk identification, risk review, and risk assessments, including providing recommendations on appropriate actions. Prepare and maintain regional schedules to accurately report regional schedule data. Assist with other scheduling and regional project controls assignments and activities. Develop "What-if" schedules and scenario analyses to provide reasonable and realistic schedule forecasts. Review contractors' claims and assist with responses and potential rebuttals. Support Directors and other leadership with business development efforts, including RFP/RFQ collaboration and support. Support clients as an individual contributor and provide corporate duties supporting internal stakeholders. Attend industry events, client meetings, and support other clients as needed. WHAT YOU’LL BRING 10-15 years of professional experience in project controls for large-scale construction projects, with a strong emphasis on claims and forensic scheduling. Demonstrated experience leading teams of project schedulers and claims and forensic schedulers. In-depth knowledge of principles and practices of project controls, including cost, schedule, and risk analysis. Extensive knowledge of delay analysis principles and expert report development for complex construction projects. Proficiency in claims management and support, and construction contracts. Ability to write comprehensive project reports. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to interface effectively with a variety of people across different technical levels and educational backgrounds. Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a customer-service attitude. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Science/Management (desirable). Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6 (desirable). Professional certification as a scheduling professional and/or engineer (preferable). Proven track record of work experience on large programs. Expertise in delay analysis methodologies. Experience with analyzing, reviewing schedules, and time impact analyses, coupled with strong negotiation skills. Ability to produce compelling oral and written presentations for clients and other stakeholders. Strong working experience with MS Office applications. Ability to communicate effectively with different disciplines to obtain scope of work and other information, and manage the development and review of schedules. A self-starter attitude with a proactive, results-oriented focus, and proven accuracy, reliability, and completeness in job accomplishment. Seniority level
