Overview
The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at North Dakota State University is seeking a full-time histotechnician/histotechnologist. The primary responsibility of the position is to support the laboratory's pathology service by preparing and processing surgical and necropsy tissue specimens by embedding, sectioning and staining tissue sections using a variety of standardized histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques. The candidate will also participation in the laboratory's quality assurance program and create and maintain quality documentation and procedures.
The laboratory is housed in a newer facility and is well equipped with multiple modern processors, motorized microtomes, automated IHC and H&E staining platforms, and numerous fume and canopy hoods to ensure a safe work environment.
North Dakota State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is a full service, AAVLD accredited laboratory that provides diagnostic testing support for practicing veterinarians, livestock producers, animal owners and the public to mitigate the impact of disease and improve animal and human health in the state.

Work Schedule:
M-F, 8-5
Hiring Range:
$60,000 - 70,000
Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
AA or AS degree in related field OR equivalent experience.
Experience working in histology laboratory OR equivalent educational experience (graduation from a CAHEA/NAACLS, HT (ASCP) accredited program)
Eligible for HT or HTL certification (within 24 months of hire)
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as a team
Preferred Qualifications:
HT or HTL Certification
1-3 years experience working in histology laboratory OR equivalent educational experience (graduation from a CAHEA/NAACLS, HT (ASCP) accredited program)
Experience developing and troubleshooting IHC stains
Experience preparing reagents for and manually performing special histochemical stains
Experience with quality assurance programs
General computer skills/literacy
Good oral and written communication skills
