We focus on operating systems, zonal controllers, cloud, and connectivity solutions to address electric vehicle challenges and set standards for software-defined vehicles globally. Role Summary We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Thermal Controls Engineer to join our software development team. This role involves developing and integrating control systems for vehicle features such as cabin cooling/heating, battery cooling/heating, and actuator control. The ideal candidate has a background in electrical or mechanical engineering, preferably with automotive or aerospace control systems experience. Responsibilities Develop embedded software in C for automotive ECUs. Design and develop control systems for vehicle subsystems like refrigeration, coolant, external airflow, and HVAC, to be executed on embedded controllers. Review requirements and produce high-level functional specifications for control solutions. Create test cases and scripts for unit, SIL, and HIL testing environments. Conduct software testing and calibration on vehicles. Develop diagnostic interfaces for controllers to facilitate troubleshooting and maintenance. Address root causes across physical, electrical, and software domains to troubleshoot vehicle issues. Prioritize and escalate issues based on impact and program objectives.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related fields. At least 1 year of experience in controls development, integration, or calibration; automotive or aerospace experience preferred. Knowledge of control theory principles and algorithm design, including PID tuning and compensator design. Understanding of heat transfer and thermodynamics fundamentals. Experience with C, C++, Rust, and/or Python. Experience with firmware integration, vehicle-level testing, and SW debugging. Familiarity with thermal and HVAC components is a plus. Experience with requirements management, issue tracking, and communication bus monitoring tools is preferred. Experience developing automated test cases in unit, SIL, or HIL environments is preferred. Willingness to travel up to 15% as needed.
