Role: embedded developer (Telematics) Role: embedded developer (Telematics) location: Michigan Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled
Embedded Software Developer
with experience in
automotive telematics systems
to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing embedded software for
Telematics Control Units (TCUs)
and
Vehicle Communication Interfaces
in compliance with automotive industry standards. Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for
Telematics Control Units (TCUs)
used in connected vehicles. Implement and support
vehicle communication protocols
such as
CAN, LIN, UDS, ISO-TP, and OBD-II . Integrate
GNSS (GPS/GLONASS) ,
cellular (4G/5G) ,
Bluetooth , and
Wi-Fi
modules into telematics platforms. Work with
RTOS
or
embedded Linux
environments to support real-time data collection and vehicle-to-cloud communication. Develop and maintain
Over-the-Air (OTA)
firmware update systems. Collaborate with hardware teams to bring up new telematics platforms and ensure robust hardware-software integration. Support
vehicle diagnostics ,
event logging , and
remote vehicle monitoring
features. Ensure compliance with
automotive safety and cybersecurity standards
such as
ISO 26262
and
ISO/SAE 21434 . Write unit tests, conduct debugging sessions, and participate in peer code reviews. Required Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 36 years of hands-on experience in
embedded software development
in the
automotive domain . Proficient in
C/C++ , with experience on
ARM-based microcontrollers
or similar platforms. Deep understanding of
automotive protocols
(CAN, LIN, UDS, OBD-II). Experience working with
cellular modems ,
GNSS , and telematics connectivity stacks. Familiarity with
RTOS
(e.g., FreeRTOS, QNX) or
embedded Linux
environments. Hands-on experience with tools like
CANoe, CANalyzer, Vector tools , and
JTAG/Segger debuggers . Experience with
OTA update mechanisms ,
secure boot , and
bootloader development . Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with
AUTOSAR
(Classic or Adaptive) architecture. Knowledge of
functional safety (ISO 26262)
or
cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) . Exposure to
cloud platforms
for vehicle data analytics (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, etc.). Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation and diagnostics. Understanding of
vehicle E/E architecture
and
power management
