www.skf.com . Job Purpose We are looking for an Application Engineer for our NA Aerospace team, supporting our Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) business. This position reports to the Manager, Application Engineering and manages the technical relationship with SKF’s customers, working closely with the MRO Repair Center and MRO leadership. The role will also coordinate with Sales and Customer Service as part of the accounts responsible team. Responsibilities include assisting the MRO team in growing the bearing aftermarket business through technical engagement with customers, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and assisting with bearing functional investigations in the field and at the MRO Repair Center. Responsibilities include evaluating technical risks, verifying product quality and inspection requirements, customer specification controls, and analyzing product field service history. This engineer promotes SKF know-how and value propositions in-line with corporate strategy and is part of a global team with access to SKF’s subject matter experts to aid in design, analysis and lessons learned. This engineer would also be responsible for problem solving, supporting preliminary engineering calculations, and solution determination in cases of customer complaints or application specific requests with regard to product performance and failure risk analysis. Key Responsibilities: Look for and chase new business opportunities by understanding what customers need and want, spotting market trends, and introducing current and new SKF technologies relating to the aftermarket business. Develop and support the MRO business through technical engagement with current and new customers. Help coordinate engineering activities throughout the aftermarket business cycle. Make sure to follow verification and validation procedures correctly and keep track of how our products are performing in the field. Carry out bearing calculations that are relevant to reverse engineering process in the development FAA approved repairs and Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA). Regularly work with the customer’s engineering team to solve technical problems. Work with and have an impact on a fast-moving global team of people from engineering, sales, business development, project management, design, quality, testing, manufacturing, and customer service; create and give technical presentations and training events to large groups of customers. Coordinate and keep tasks aligned that involve many customers in your region or assignment and build and improve relationships with customers’ engineering/technical teams with the target of implementing innovative light weight and/or low friction solutions to reach the CO2 emissions reduction of the aerospace industry. Assist customers with the selection of environmentally friendly/compliant bearing solutions for their applications. Job Requirements: An Engineering degree. If it’s in Mechanical, Material or Aerospace Engineering, that’s even better. If you have experience in technical sales or applications engineering, that’s a plus. Working knowledge (advanced experience a plus) of rolling bearings, airframe bearings, aerospace materials and basic calculations related to such products and materials is highly desired. A working knowledge of FAA Regulations: e.g., FAA 14 CFR Part 21 Subpart K, AC 21-43, AC 43-18, FAA Orders 8110.42, 8120.22, 8110.37, 8110.3, is a plus. Be a good listener and communicator of technical knowledge (both in writing and speaking). Ability to speak and write in English well. You should have a good personality and be good at managing relationships with customers. This will help you motivate and influence the technical choices of our customers. If you have experience with calculation tools and engineering design software, and if you know about manufacturing processes, that’s a plus.
