The team responsible for designing and implementing control systems for a wide range of innovative ride platforms is seeking a highly skilled Ride Control Hardware Engineer, Principal. This individual will play a key role in conceiving, designing, and delivering control systems that ensure operational performance, reliability, and safety. As a principal engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of complex electrical control systems for various ride attractions and related equipment. Your expertise in industrial control system installation, integration, and commissioning will be instrumental in meeting project deadlines and quality standards. Design and implement programmable, electrical, and electronic hardware scope to conceive, design, & deliver control systems for ride systems and related equipment.
Perform engineering design and analysis for ride systems, focusing on electrical control systems.
Develop control system and network architectures for ride attractions, ride vehicles, and motion systems.
You will collaborate with other design and engineering professionals to develop and implement ride control systems. The ability to communicate effectively and coordinate team efforts will be crucial in this role. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects simultaneously, including proof-of-concept efforts, which require creativity and innovation. Your experience in hazard assessments and failure modes and effects analysis will help ensure the safety and reliability of our control systems. This position requires strong leadership skills, as well as the ability to manage vendors, contractors, and consultants conducting control system design and implementation for ride systems. You will oversee supplier and consultant design and delivery efforts, ensuring that all delivery and performance requirements are satisfied. Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess at least 10 years of experience with design, engineering, installation, and commissioning of control systems for electromechanical systems. Demonstrated leadership in fail-safe and safety-related controls design, including application of functional safety concepts, is also required. Extensive knowledge of control processors, components, and communication networks used in multi-processing real-time industrial applications.
Highly proficient in industrial control system installation, integration and commissioning.
Solid understanding of communication technologies/protocols: TCP/IP, CAN, serial, ProfiNET, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT.
Extensive knowledge with electrical design standards and codes, including UL508a and NEC.
Knowledge and familiarity with amusement and automation industry standards, including ASTM F2291.
Furthermore, you should have expertise in motor and motion control methods and components, as well as closed-loop motion control. Proficiency in developing and reading electrical schematics and one-line diagrams is also essential. Solid skills in technical document/drawing preparation and presentation are required, along with demonstrated experience in scheduling and estimating control systems development and implementation scope. Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed professional engineer or equivalent qualifications and skills are preferred. Experience in Rockwell and/or Siemens automation systems architecture and components, wireless communications for control and monitoring electromechanical systems, pneumatic controls and devices, and electrical and troubleshooting skills are also desirable. Education:
A Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineer or STEM field is required. Some Physics Coursework (Motion Equations / Dynamics) and some Computer Science Coursework are highly preferred. Some System Engineering coursework is also preferred.
