Medical College of Wisconsin Position Description:
The Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin (F & MCW) Transplant Service Line is seeking a Medical Director of the dedicated Transplant ICU. We are seeking a leader with a focus and experience in management of acute and chronic liver disease, liver transplant recipients, as well as kidney/pancreas transplant recipients with critical care needs. The leader is expected to work closely and collaboratively with the Surgical and Medical directors of Liver transplantation to expand the comprehensive liver program.
The adult transplant ICU is a 20-bed unit which admits ~500 patients per year. A significant proportion of patients are referred to the liver program for management of liver failure and evaluation for transplantation. Care of patients is multidisciplinary, working collaboratively with surgeons, hepatologists, registered dieticians, transplant ID, PT/OT, and transplant pharmacists. Our TICU has a group of highly trained ICU nurses, transplant surgery APPs, and multi-disciplinary intensivists from medicine, emergency medicine, and surgery to care for this specific patient population.
Opportunity
Appointment within the transplant service line including thoracic and abdominal transplantation. Full-time faculty position within the MCW Divisions of Trauma/Acute Care Surgery (section of Surgical Critical Care) and Transplant Surgery. Support the expansion of the liver program in close collaboration with leadership of the liver services. Participate in the clinical education of fellows, residents, medical students, and other trainees. Advance the academic, research and educational missions of the institution. Robust support for clinical research Contribute to a patient-centered approach to delivery of care and engage in a climate of inquiry, quality, and safety.

Salary, research support, and benefits will be commensurate with rank and experience, and the candidate will hold appropriate academic rank in the Medical College of Wisconsin School of Medicine. The Transplant Service Line is a joint program of Froedtert Hospital, the academic medical center of the Froedtert health network & the Medical College of Wisconsin, with vital support by Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin for tissue typing and research initiatives. Position Requirements:
Education, training, and experience required:
Candidates must be Board Certified in Critical Care. Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in Wisconsin. Candidates must have experience managing decompensated liver disease and post- transplant liver/kidney/pancreas patients.
