Other Conditions: University of Hawai’i Economic Research Organization (UHERO), Social Science Research Institute (SSRI), College of Social Sciences, University of Hawai’i at Manoa (Honolulu, Hawai’i) invites applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor. This is a 9-month, full- time, permanent, tenure-track faculty appointment to begin as soon as January 1, 2026, subject to position clearance and availability of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities - Assistant Professor (F-3) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Mentor and advise students. Conduct applied research in one or more of the following areas: economic forecasting, macroeconomics, regional economics, tourism economics. Publish in peer-reviewed academic journals. Serve as principal investigator on extramurally funded projects. Contribute directly to UHERO’s core forecast mission, the development of forecasting models and the preparation of state, county and industry forecasts; monitor developments in local, national and global economies, and interact with government agencies and various stakeholders to both gather and share relevant information. Contribute to policy analysis and reports, other specialized research reports. Provide service and outreach in congruence with UHERO’s mission. Other duties as assigned by the director.
Duties and Responsibilities - Associate Professor (F-4): In addition the duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Professor rank, Provide significant service to the college and community outside of the area of primary responsibilities. Sustain involvement in professional and self-development activities.
Minimum Qualifications - Assistant Professor (F-3):
Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree from a college or university of recognized standing in Economics (ABDs will be considered but all degree requirements must be completed prior to date of hire); A record of research achievement (publications, grants) commensurate with time in field. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and mentor and advise students in the applicant’s area of expertise.
Minimum Qualifications - Associate Professor (F-4):
Minimum qualifications of the Assistant Professor rank; A record of research achievement (publications, grants) commensurate with time in field. A minimum of four years of service as Assistant Professor or equivalent.
