nABOUT THE ROLE
nMonitor, assess, and optimize the performance of mechanical systems through the Building Automation System (BAS or BMS) for efficiency and accurate operation. Apply sophisticated control strategies and objectives to medium to large-scale projects. Job duties are primarily performed on campus.

Apply expert skills to identify and resolve intricate technical issues, minimizing system downtime and ensuring uninterrupted building operations.

Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to provide insights and recommendations during project planning and implementation phases.

Mentor and guide junior technicians, sharing industry knowledge and enhancing their technical proficiency.

Develop and execute comprehensive maintenance plans, proactively identifying potential system vulnerabilities and implementing measures for improved reliability and efficiency.

Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating innovative solutions where applicable to enhance service offerings.

Cultivate strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service, addressing concerns, and providing tailored solutions aligned with specific building automation requirements.

Write instruction manuals and train the systems' end users.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
n- n

Proven expertise in programming and configuring building automation controllers, sensors, actuators, and related equipment.
n n - n
General understanding of mechanical systems, including air handlers, boilers, chillers, pressure dependent and independent VAVs, cooling towers, and CRAC units.
n n - n
Sound knowledge of control strategies such as static resets, supply air temperature control, and central plant sequencing.
n n - n
Strong troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues, with the ability to develop effective solutions.
n n - n
Competence in using handheld tools like voltage meters, manometers, and amp meters.
n n - n
Proficiency in leading high-pressure situations and multitasking effectively.
n n - n
Research different technologies to decide if they would increase the organization's efficiency.
n n - n
Initiative-taking and adept at both independent work and collaborative partnership.
n n - n
Proven exceptional communication and social skills.
n n - n
Proficient in interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.
n n - n
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Docs).

Willingness to join Local 39 Stationary Engineers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
n n - n
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience (Building Automation Systems) and/or trade school training.

Programming and configuring experience required
n n - n
In-depth knowledge of control systems such as, Alerton, Automated Logic and Tridium Niagara.
n n
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
nAdditional certification in one or more of the following is a plus: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
nOTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
nMeet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
nUnderstanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
nAbility to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.
nStrong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
nIn-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

*Should any element of this Job Description conflict with the provisions of an applicable collective bargaining agreement, the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement will prevail.
nThe pay range for this position is subject to an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the role is $156,894.40 annually (or $75.43 per hour). Please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding pay scale and benefits.
