The Global Category Manager (GCM) – Clinical Development Services Procurement at the Associate Director level, plans and leads category projects for a defined sub-category or group of subcategories with a total spend of less than USD 60m, developing strategies within the wider Category Strategy. Responsibilities
Report to the R&D Procurement Clinical Development Services Procurement Lead and collaborate with the R&D Procurement team. Provide financial and business analysis, support global market intelligence, and serve as the category expertise focal point. Lead procurement, sourcing, outsourcing, or purchasing of Compliance Services categories, including pharmacovigilance services. Support Takeda’s R&D organization by leading Compliance Services categories. Manage competitive procurement, supplier negotiations, and contracting. Oversee contract lifecycle management, including MSAs, SOWs, CORFs, and COs. Support the development of formalized Category Management structures and methods globally. Collaborate with Finance to apply savings guidelines and report on cost savings and cost avoidance. Implement Supplier Relationship Management efforts to ensure performance and continuous improvement. Apply Category Management tools and techniques to deliver operational and financial benefits. Own complex supplier arrangements and provide expertise on other commercial arrangements. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required. Minimum 11 years of experience with at least 5 years in strategic and operational procurement, with knowledge of category management and GCP/GMP standards. Experience managing category projects and developing sourcing strategies. Change management and process improvement skills. Preferred: postgraduate business qualification, experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, CRO, or GMP suppliers, and familiarity with enterprise and procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, Ariba, etc.).
