The Johns Hopkins University Krieger School of Arts & Sciences (KSAS) is seeking an Associate Director for Academic Advising, Systems & Technology within the Office of Academic Advising (OAA). This role manages operational and technical aspects of the advising program, supporting students’ holistic well-being and academic success. This hybrid position (in-office and remote days) reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Advising.
Responsibilities
- Advising Systems & Technology Leadership (50%)
- Manage advising systems, academic catalog review, and collaborate with offices such as Registrar’s, IT, and the Whiting School of Engineering.
- Oversee implementation of policies, develop campus partnerships, and manage operational tasks including academic standing, reinstatement, evaluation, and system maintenance.
- Supervise up to 3 staff members, including an Assistant Director for Transfer Advising, providing guidance and professional development.
- Coordinate staff-led projects, manage catalog revisions, and oversee academic planning software (Stellic).
- Participate in academic policy committees and strategic planning with advising leadership.
- Conduct program evaluations and coordinate training for advisors.
Academic Advising (50%)
- Advising a caseload of approximately 65-75 students, assisting with academic planning, major/minor selection, and post-graduation planning.
- Help students navigate academic resources, monitor progress, and address at-risk students through early interventions.
- Maintain accurate records, document meetings, and communicate deadlines and requirements.
Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in education or related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in academic program administration; supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficiency in educational technology, data analysis, and advising software.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Additional Information
Salary range: $64,600 - $113,300, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, exempt position located at the Homewood Campus, with a hybrid schedule (3-4 days in-office).
