Job Description:
Mount Holyoke College is seeking a strategic and mission-driven professional to enhance educational opportunities for high-potential students from diverse backgrounds. The Associate Director of Admission for College Access Partnerships is crucial in advancing Mount Holyoke’s commitment to expanding access to higher education, particularly for those who might face barriers. The Associate Director will focus on building and strengthening partnerships that support college access, while also managing recruitment, application review, and team supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Program Development: Develop and execute strategic goals for recruiting and yielding historically underrepresented students, aligning with the College's "MHC Forward" framework. Monitor trends and challenges in higher education access to inform data-driven recommendations. Design and implement engaging virtual and in-person opportunities, with a specific focus on first-generation students. Represent the Admission Office on campus-wide college access initiatives, collaborating with key partners like Financial Services and Student Life to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for all students, especially first-generation students. Enhance department-wide competency in understanding diverse student experiences throughout the college application process. Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and secondary schools. Manage institutional memberships with vital organizations such as NECBAC (Northeastern Consortium Bridging Access to College). Travel & Recruitment: Conduct extensive recruitment travel, up to eight weeks per year (fall and spring), to visit high schools and CBOs, delivering compelling presentations about Mount Holyoke. Develop and execute recruitment appointments, including school visits, college fairs, and information sessions, actively engaging with prospective students, families, and counselors. Represent Mount Holyoke College nationally and potentially internationally. Reading & Evaluation: Thoroughly read and evaluate first-year applications from assigned territories. Provide personalized outreach and support to applicants within designated territories. Reporting, Analytics, and Assessment: Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment travel, search purchases, and vendor partnerships. Provide data-driven recommendations for process improvements and new strategic approaches. Personnel (within Program Responsibilities): Directly supervise two Assistant Directors of Admission. Oversee special projects involving student ambassadors focused on college access initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of progressive experience in admission or a related field. Exceptional oral, analytical, interpersonal, and written communication skills, including strong public speaking abilities. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and diplomatically with diverse stakeholders, while managing sensitive information with discretion. Proficiency in utilizing data for strategic decision-making. A clear understanding of liberal arts education and the ability to articulate its value within a women’s college context. A valid US driver’s license and US passport (or eligibility to obtain one). Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak seasons.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in admission or enrollment management. Familiarity with Technolutions Slate CRM and Ellucian’s Colleague system. Fluency in a language other than English. Experience in a selective college/university admission environment.
Hiring Range $68,272 - $76,806
